Can I register and monetize my music in Content ID programs, like YouTube?

Article Tools

No. While we encourage our non-exclusive contributors to seek success wherever they can find it, systems like these interfere with our business model. Imagine a client licensing your track and putting it in a promotional video, only to find it monetized by a third party – in some cases even running an ad for a competitor’s product. This causes big issues for Getty Images, for our customers, and it may hurt your chances of being licensed again.

In section 2.1 of the Getty Images Music Contributor Agreement there is language that prohibits contributors from entering into programs that could interfere with our client’s ability to exercise the rights they are granted.
